Re: kidneys weak from diabetes....help re Solomon Wickey and more help
You would need to check your stomach acid production as the first thing to do. It's fairly common to have low or zero stomach acid production which affects the functioning of the digestive system as well as helping to keep the stomach clear of bacteria and yeasts/fungi etc. An empty stomach has a very low ph which helps to prevent any colonisation by bacteria etc.
You can begin with a simple test that you can try at home and it might indicate if there could be a problem. It did for me.
Belching when eating is a common sign and bloating can also indicate a problem if things are in a poor state of function.

Lemon juice has a fairly low ph and might help a little and Cider vinegar is also fairly low in ph. Fermented foods such as sauerkraut are also fairly acidic and can be very beneficial. However if your stomach is producing little to no acid then taking betaine HCI capsules with pepsin would help far more. Washing them down with lemon juice or apple cider vinegar would also help but lemon juice on it's own probably won't do enough, it's not hydrochloric acid. It's a case of experimenting until you reach a point where you notice a slight burning sensation in your stomach. Watch your teeth with lemon juice and cider vinegar! Using a squeezed lemon free from
preservatives would be best but there is no real substitute for getting some betaine HCI capsules. It's best to get some which are not too strong so that they can be easily adjusted. 650mg is typical but too much IMO unless you have a lower dose one which can be added when the required dose has been found. I find the Jarrow 250 capsule ones (325mg/82mg) to be fairly good and the price is fairly decent.
I've found that my irises to be the best indication of problems with the stomach. Immediately outside the pupil is the stomach zone and a grey band can show deterioration of the nervous system which affects the functioning of the stomach first of all. Incidentally, the elderly frequently have low stomach acid levels and they are likely to have deterioration of their nervous systems. Poorer absorption results in low nutrients which causes a worsening of the nervous system condition which increases the problem. I'm using benfotiamine, methylcobalamin and Virgin coconut oil which has improved my nervous system function/stomach function to some degree. My irises show an improvement in the colour of the stomach zone since I started taking them. Still quite some way to go but I am also diabetic so need all the help I can get because it's notorious for causing nervous system problems.
Bone broths and soups are meant to be very beneficial to the stomach, using cartilage, knuckle bones and larger bones cut in two so that the bone marrow can be boiled and extracted. There are many articles on the internet on how to do it. Check for articles on the stomach and digestive system healing power of beef broth.
Enzymes might be helpful if there is any problem with the stomach or pancreas.
