I remember you said he "eats like a horse" - this is a very good sign IMO.
My eldest son was very picky on his food, and I knew he had deficiencies, but no way I could make him eat differently; until after iodine. The pickiness went away and he now eats a variety of foods, hates junk food.
Their deficiencies, if there is one; will show up some way or another. The
Iodine and co-factors covers the most.
Zinc supplementation is good for boys when they approach their teens; this is the fathering element, hormone balancer, prevent some
Acne etc. Also needed for small ones, good for preventing infections, viruses.
My boys get zinc, magnesium at a regular basis. Vit c, b, selenium, iodine, boron. Thats about it.
smoothies are good; one can put alot of things in it.
