Re: coconut oil vs caprylic acid?
Yes, good point. The point I was trying to make is that coconut oil is the most concentrated source of caprylic acid, but from working with many patients I can tell you that many get sick of the coconut taste after awhile. And, for this any several other reasons, a concentrated source supplemented form of caprylic acid can be a godsend. Coconut products are caprylic acid, but like many beneficial foods you soon tire of their continual flavor, just like with garlic. And, you can also develop a coconut allergy, I have seen these on several US Biotek
food allergy reports after a candida patient was taking coconut products daily for some time. Any food can stimulate an allergic response if taken in daily for months, years. One needs to be careful. In USA for example, corn allergies are very real, we never see them in NZ.
Incidentally, some coconut milks are in fact an excellent source of caprylic acid, it depends where the coconut was grown and under what conditions. Again, another reason to supplement because you are never guaranteed any specific levels of caprylic acid when you consume the oil or have the milk due to the natural variances in foods.
