Re: Before diagnosing yourself with Adrenal Fatigue...

Great article! This is what I've been suspecting for a while now that a lot of people's problems are stemming from calorie-restriction, whether intentionally or accidentally.

How interesting the symptoms of adrenal fatigue are exactly the same for starvation:

The author does what I've been urging people to do with http://cronometer.com

"I frequently have these clients do a 3 day food log, and what I’m finding, over and over, is that these people are consuming starvation level calories (the WHO defines starvation as anything less than 2100 calories a day for men and 1800 a day for women). The quality of their diet is pristine, they are certainly not lacking for nutrients! But they’re starving. I convince them to eat more, maybe add back in some foods they’ve been convinced are ‘unhealthy’ (like oatmeal, fruit, and other energy dense foods), and suddenly their symptoms begin to resolve."

I hadn't known the calorie numbers for starvation, so it's nice to know the baselines.

WHO's definition of starvation:
Females = anything less than 1,800 cal per day
Males = anything less than 2,100 cal per day

30bananasaday.com's recommended calorie minimums on a high-carb/low-fat diet:
Females = at least 2,500 cal per day
Males = at least 3,000 cal per day

I think this is the most important line that I just posted in different words in another thread.

"The human body does not run on nutrients, it runs on calories."

PLEASE EVERYBODY, read that article and don't feel ashamed, embarrassed, or at fault if you fall into that category. It's about getting your health back and it's vital to know what went wrong to cause your health problems so you know how to get well here on forward and to prevent something like that from ever happening again.
