Re: Fasting after a flu

134172,
I had advanced stage Leukemia and given 6 months to live over 30 years ago.
My first water-only-fast of 25 days accomplished most of the detox and was indeed an horrendous experience as far as symptoms were concerned. After over a month of careful refeeding, and as outlined within Natural Hygiene, I fasted again for 30 days: this was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience with some detox symptoms in the first few days but none thereafter.
My body was extremely toxic before the first fast and as evidenced by the horrendous detox (even a spitting crisis), but my Liver/kidney function and other blood-tests post-fasts, were within the normal range and have been ever since.

Dr H M Shelton wrote an article entitled: "The Autolytic Disintegration of Tumors" found here.............
http://www.rawfoodexplained.com/cancers-tumors/autolyzing-tumors.html

an extract..........
"Over a hundred years ago, Sylvester Graham wrote that when more food is used by the body than is daily supplied, "it is a general law of the vital economy" that "the decomposing absorbents (the old term for the process of Autolysis) always first lays hold of and removes those substances which are of least use to the economy; and hence, all morbid accumulations, such as wens, tumors, abscesses, etc., are rapidly diminished and often wholly removed under severe and protracted abstinence and fasting."

So yes, water-only-fasting is the most effective method in physiology in absorbing (fuel and elimination) via Autolysis in removing morbid materials from the body, whilst simultaneously preserving the more vital tissues.

However, optimized nutrients (Orthomolecular) act as a prophylactic, or do have a protective effect against disease if our diets are optimal, but then who exactly has an optimal diet? when we consume foods grown in nutrient-depleted soils? and are contaminated with all the "cides" (pesti, herbi, and so on).

The ideal combination in the prevention of disease is to have a body free from toxemia and one that is nutritionally optimized.

Kcirla,
It is gratifying to know you have recovered from your ordeal, but no one has ever died undergoing a water-only-fast where the pathology wasn't already in place to that end, whether eating/juicing or fasting. As you have probably read from my account above I too was at deaths door and indeed thought I would have done so during my first water-only-fast as the detox symptoms were so horrendous, but I trusted in the power that made me to restore me, and here I am 32 years later and in the best of health to tell the tale.
No doubt you will have felt better on a juice-fast than you would have done on a water-only-fast, but this is because any feeding (juices or solids) will inhibit the process of detoxification (toxic hunger) and allow this to occur more gradually over a longer period of time, whereas water-only-fasting is more expedient and more thorough in its process, and as Dr Alan Goldhamer and Dr Ben Kim have talked about in their videos and writings.

The main thing is that you have found your own path to wellness, but as a reminder, the consensus of professional opinion of those who are experienced in the fast, is that water only according to thirst it is far more effective at cleansing and healing than juice fasting.
