Re: A lil confused about the concentration of Iodine..

Oh ok.. I will go for the highest %% then - 15%.

I have sent an email to the creators of that website and for couple of days they did not reply me back. So any ideas about the expiry date of that product (or just in average)??

1) how many drops to use a day? One I guess??

2) what about kids.. if it is 15% solution then how can i give them and since what age?

3) If I use 15% solution then during pregnancy and lactation how can i use it?? U cant really separate 1 drop on several if I need to take it in lesser ammounts as Genespleen stated or i need to take in a day? Plz advise! :)

4) should i take thyroid test of any kind to see whether it is safe for me to use it. I mean I feel ok but just in case or it is not necessary..

Thanks. :)

Nadia

Ps: Just have found the following info about this product but STILL it doesnt tell me much! - To make the newer 7% Lugol's version, using the same 4,000 ml. of distilled water, the amounts of Iodine use are 200 gm. of KI, and 100 gm. of Iodine crystal. For 15% Lugol's, to 4,000 ml. of distilled water we dissolve 480 gm. of KI and 240 gm. of Iodine crystal. Lugol's Iodine has an optimal shelf-life of approximately one year.

Also it says there -Dr. Michael B. Schachter says - “The treatment dose when a person is iodine insufficient is generally between 12.5 mg and 50 mg daily. Preliminary research indicates that if a person is iodine insufficient, it takes about 3 months to become iodine sufficient while ingesting a dosage of 50 mg of iodine and a year to become iodine sufficient while ingesting a dosage of 12.5 mg of iodine daily. However, the patient needs to be monitored closely with awareness of possible side effects and detoxification reactions.”

tHen another etraction - "The usual dose for treatment was 300 mgs (46 drops of full strength Lugol’s) to 1 gm (1000 mg, 154 drops)". So it means if they meant under 'full strength - 15%" then one drop equals (300/46=6.5?... So perhaps it means one drop in 15% liquid of Lugol's is 6.5 mgs? And according to suggestion i need to have a day at least 12.5 mg?... Do I count well or just making things up? :/ :))

So, Gina, u STILL recommend me to use 15%?.. Anyway, plz answer me, anyone, on above asked questions. I am VERY confused (being a new comer, obviously) :))
