This drug is known to cause several serious problems.  I have a very good friend who was given Vicodin by her family doctor (MD) simply to help her sleep at night and she quickly became addicted to it.  It is more difficult stop the addiction than the addiction to heroin but she was able to stop by slow withdrawal.  It took her about three months to do it.

I would go back to the doctor who prescribed this for you and let him know what's going on.
