Re: Is this Die-off? Gut problems 4 days after 1 Diflucan
It's strange that your doctor didn't order a stool test for you to look for C-diff. It's an easy stool test. At least that's something you can easily rule out and put your mind to rest on that question. More than anything else, it sounds like candida die off to me as well.
I've taken Diflucan and I had all kinds of aches and pains in many different places, especially the kidneys, to a point where I thought I was getting a urinary tract infection. But I held out and continued the treatment and the aching subsided. I was 5'1" and 115
lbs. and took 100 mg. Diflucan every night for a long time (not sure if body mass matters when prescribing, but maybe it does) and got through it OK. I ate an alkaline-forming diet (mostly above the ground vegs) and used cleansing herbs/teas. The die off is easier to handle when your system is not overloaded with gunky foods. My candida was very severe, with leaky gut, and I took Diflucan for a long time. It's best to get liver enzyme tests once a month if you're going to be on Diflucan for an indeterminate length of time like I was. This is a simple blood test, called an SGPT, that measures the body's manufacture of liver enzymes. This tests the health of your liver so as to know if you can handle the Diflucan as this drug is systemically metabolized through the liver.
