Is this Die-off? Gut problems 4 days after 1 Diflucan
Hello all! I am wondering if someone can give me their thoughts on what might be going on. My doctor has prescribed a bunch of Diflucan pills for me as I'd been having daily gastritis since being treated for h.pylori twice, and a bunch of sinus infections before that. After the h.pylori treatment I also had chronic diarrhea and flu-like symptoms so I was also treated for possible c.diff without a test (that's another story).
As I'd had all those
Antibiotics the doc thought I might have candida overgrowth. She told me to take one every 4 days initially to see how I felt, and then I could increase to one a day. About a week and a half ago, I took the first Diflucan and my gastritis cleared up overnight. I felt very tired, and had sinus headaches and muscle aches. But by the 4th day after taking it my gastritis was coming back. So, I took another pill, and felt even more tired and achy than before but no gastritis. However, like last time, 4 days after I took the pill I started having stomach problems. This time I had twisting pains to the left of my bellybutton but in the lower abdomen, lots of gurgling and cramping and occassional diarrhea. I also feel so exhausted like I have the flu.
I understand that a person can experience these things with die-off. But I am confused about the timing. I have read that Diflucan stays in your system for about 4 days, and that seems to be when the gut problems are coming back. You'd think I'd have these issues shortly after taking the Diflucan and not when it's coming out of my system.
Does this sound like die-off, and should I continue with the treatment? Or should I stop? I'm worried that it's not candida after all and I'm allowing some other bacteria to grow in my gut by killing off any beneficial fungi that might be keeping c.diff at bay. So frustrating that I don't know whether I had c.diff or not.
I feel pretty bad right now and am afraid to take anything at this point! I don't want to make it worse.
Does anybody have any input on this, similar experiences or advice?
Thank in advance!
