niacin and high histamine

Niacinamide and niacin are different forms of B3, so the following may not apply to niacinamide.

I think niacin blocks histamine breakdown, and I hear it increases histamine levels. If you already have high histamine levels (are you an under-methylator?), you could cause yourself problems taking niacin.

Be careful.

I'm pretty sure I'm an unusual case, but I attempted a niacin flush and it resulted in a bad case of hives all over my chest, arms, and legs that took a week to get over. In case it was a mistaken association, in case something else caused it, I tried again. (Turned out worse than the first time. I realize there are studies that assert histamines are probably not involved in the niacin flushing effect, but that may not mean they're not involved in post-flush-dose urticaria.)
