Re: article: How oil pulling has helped me.

Well, all I can say is how wrong you are. And you must not have any health problems. My story, as condensed as can be: I was sick with too many symptoms to name. Since doctors were absolutely NO help, I spent all my time I was able on the computer trying to find out what was wrong with me and what I could do to help myself. I narrowed down, by my symptoms, what I thought my problems were, and what measures I could take naturally to improve my health.

OP (oil pulling) was the first thing I tried.

I don’t know how OP works. Nor do I care. Meaning, I don’t care if there is a scientific “reason” behind the why, or not ... I just know what it did for me. You cant understand til you are so sick and desperate that (as long as it cant hurt or make you worse) you will try something that sounds “nutty”. And I was at that point.

I didn’t want to wait and try one oil and see if it helped or not ... so I started the day, before eating or drinking, brushing my teeth, then OP first, Sesame, then brushing, then Sunflower, then brushing, then EVOO, then brushing, then Coconut, then brushing. Then drinking 2 to 3 cups of water. (I don’t follow that particular order every day, I mix them up, but I have had too many health benefits to stop using any one oil!)

That might sound a little crazy, but I needed help NOW ... and didn’t want to “wait” to see if one oil helped or not.

By the way, I am not recommending that everyone try doing all four oils at once ... its just what I did because I was feeling so very sick. But I do wish everyone would at least try one oil, and do it for enough time to give it a chance. The other benefits (other than the losing weight) took some time of regular use before seeing results.

With changing nothing else in my life, here are some of the benefits I have seen.

#1- I have lost 15 pounds. This may not seem like a lot, or a big deal, but I had reached an age in my life that when I wanted to lose a few pounds, the old way I had of watching what I ate and walking and I would see some results in a short time, no longer worked. At all. After trying and trying NOW, though, and walking and eating healthy ... I saw NO weight loss. Nothing.

It was VERY frustrating and discouraging. And also a little bit scary. Not even a half or quarter pound came off. But after the oil pulling (I wasn’t even DOING it to lose weight.), I felt like the weight was just falling off! It was unbelievable! I don’t know the how or the why, but I didn’t really care. Now, it did stop at 15 pounds, and I DO need to lose some more, but that is a big benefit if you ask me.

All I can say is if I put my mind to it and start walking again and really watch what I eat (I haven’t been), I bet I could lose a LOT more. And even though I have not even been being careful what I eat, I have gained none of it back. And the only thing I have been doing differently is OP.

#2- I have a bad tooth that acts up and can be excruciatingly painful (and yes, its on my list of things to do, but I want to go to a dentist that knows about mercury etc.) -and if I miss a few days of doing it, the pain comes back. But when I do it regularly, the pain stays away. And no “bad breath” from that bad tooth, either, that I always had before and nothing helped.

#3- I battle with mild to severe depression. And this has improved a LOT since OP.

#4- I had pain down my leg that was nerve pain. The doctor couldn’t do anything about it but give medicine for it that had very bad side affects. I went to the chiropractor regularly, and THIS was not even helping. After OP a short time, after having had it for MONTHS with no relief, it went away and has not come back.

#5- Sleeping a lot better. And I was having BAD insomnia problems. Unless you have experienced this first hand, you cannot know the agony of it.

#6- Feeling better in overall general health.

Those are just some of the main things. And I know it is the OP because when I DON’T do it, then the problems come back. When I start back up ... they go away. I try to do it everyday, regularly, now.

And I don’t know “why”. I don’t know the scientific “reason” why. But it is obviously doing something. Its basically cheap. And there are no side effects. (Think about the medicines that doctors prescribe and how many people DIE from taking them, even the way they are recommenced to -research it and see.). So why not try it? It certainly cant hurt.

And I see some people complain about the taste. Woop-de-do. Am I going to NOT do something that cant hurt, and CAN possibly have numerous health benefits because it “tastes” yucky??? I don’t get some people. All I can say is they must not be sick enough. Cause when you are, believe you me ... you just want to get better. And what can it hurt? By the way, as to what to do with the oil? I spit it in the garbage can with the rest of the garbage. Problem solved!

I am a believer. And I’m not so dumb as to not be willing to try it, when there is NO negative side affects to it, just because I cant prove scientifically “how” or “why” it works. And I am the most careful person on this planet! I will not try something unless I have researched it over and over and over again. And THEN some.

I am a believer. And I don’t even CARE why it works. I just know it does!

Is it inconvenient to do? I’ll answer that with another question? How inconvenient is it to be so sick you feel like you cant even get out of bed?

Is it inconvenient to do it the way I do? Most definitely. It can be a real pain to have to do it first thing every morning before eating, drinking, etc. -but is it worth it? A hundred times YES! And when I DON’T get it in ... or skip it for a few days or more ... then I am reminded of how worth it, it really IS!

And it is very wrong to say that OP does not work, just because there is no “proven” scientific reason for it. I KNOW it works. The proof is in the pudding.
P.S. By the way, it did not help me due to a placebo, the changes are real. Nor is it because I “wished” it (ugghhh!) ... nor is it all in my head, because the physical evidence is THERE!

Why are you so worried about why it works? If it does, even though it cant be proven as to why, right now at this time, why try to degrade something and (basically) put it down, when it can help so many people?

After all, the world was thought to be ‘flat’, even though it was round. And just because many people didn’t THINK it was round, and there (at the time) was no scientific proof that it WAS round ... did not change the fact that it is, was, and always WILL be, round!

And, by the way, my niece has the best oral hygiene of anyone I know, and she has so many health problems that its not even funny. So brushing and rinsing with water DOESN’T necessarily mean good overall health. (She does this faithfully, throughout the day, as she has soft teeth prone to cavities.)

Unfortunately, I cant force people to try what they have even seen help with their own eyes. Partly, she has bad facial pain and swelling, so she wont do the pulling, even though I think if she could do it even for a short time and then build up, that it would help her a lot. After all, the doctors have done ZIP for her and her pain and illness.

If I could tell everyone to do just one thing to improve their health, I would tell them to OP.
