The National Council Against Health Fraud (NCAHF) who hosted the article on the dangers of fasting, is a dubiously funded organisation with a strong bias/prejudice against anything alternative, and which does not conform to the Mainstream model of healthcare.

In other words, if the health school of the time (and there were many) didn't conform to the drug/surgery model of disease-treatment, it would not receive funding and would eventually close, leaving the Allopathic model (drug and surgery-based) to monopolize healthcare in the United States.
