Re: 10 day DF done ends in a couple of hours - some thoughts
No problem Karen. Happy to answer anything I can.
(1) What is your experiece regarding your (a)healing and (b)fat loss and (c)skin tone in DF as compared with water fast?
In terms of healing I really cannot say yet. The things I want to heal are long term and chronic such as Lupus, a large thyroid cyst that the want to remove my thyroid for, bi-polar
Depression and several other Lupus related issues such as
Rheumatoid Arthritis etc.
For the thyroid cyst, I see an improvement as it no longer protudes the way it did before. I had concluded that it was my imgination but I had a meeting with my general doctor this morning about my tests and he agrees that it feels, and certainly looks, smaller. The
RA is certainly a lot better than but a long term juice diet helps that as well so...
I did not do the DF for fat loss and I do not believe it would be good for that. I do not think much true fat can be lost in the 10-14 days I would be able to maintain a DF. For fat loss I would day a
juicing diet would be preferable. I did lose 18 lbs in the 10 days and 5 came back after rehydration. In the
Water Fast I lost 40
pounds in 40 days and 15 came back after refeed. Also, for me - on a
Water Fast after about 3-4 days I get into heavy (140) ketosis. On the DF the ketosis stick never registered above 80.
For skin tone - since I was so weak during the
Water Fast I spent about 90% of the time on bed so I did have some rather loose skin. During the refeed I noticed that it tightened considerably. I did make sure to focus on juicy fruits and such that are reputed to help with skin tone.
On the DF I was able to do some yoga and trampolining. And I also kept up the skin brushing I normally do. This time around - no sags other than the normal time induced ones - lol. I am hoping to have more energy on this WF and be able to keep up with the yoga and some other exercises to keep my body toned. I did get a lot of compliments since the DF about how clear and beautiful my skin is even though I am still sloughing off the 10 days worth of dead skin cells.
(2) I have accelerated pulse/heart beats while doing water fast, even more so while doing DF. Do you expereince this too? Once while on DAY 2 of DF I had pulse rate 104. That kind of scared me. While I am not fasting, my pulse rate is under 70.
Not sure what my usual resting pulse rate is as prior to fasting I only took it at the doctor or the gym. On the water fast I was weak and fainty. I just could not move around much and my pulse would easily hit 110 in a few seconds. On the DF the first 2 days I was a little tired and a little off. After that I had no problems with dizziness except for one day when I spent too long out doing some chores. I have more energy on a DF.
