Re: 10 day DF done ends in a couple of hours - some thoughts
>>you said you had no bad breath during your 10-day DF? What might be the reason? Does not bad breath accompany fasting usually?<<
I have never had bad breath while fasting but during a
Water Fast you brush your teeth like one normally would. During the DF I did not brush my teeth nor rinse my moth for 10 days so of course daily personal care is a big concern. I had an appointment on one day and dithered so long to go. I just kept asking my mother if she was sure my breath did not smell and if I was giving off
Body Odor - lol.
>>Another question: I read that dehydration might cause strokes. I also read that 1/3 of people have strokes which they are not even aware of, but their intelligence still declines with each stroke. This concern keeps me away from attempting longer DF. I would like to know your thoughts on this concern. Other DF experts, do offer your thoughts on this concern please. Thanks.<<
I think you should look up some of the signs of dehydration as well as learn to know your body well. In 2010 or so I was consuming around 1 gal of water per day yet my doctor kept telling me I was dehydrated and to drink more. I did a juice fast in Jan 2011 and after that I was able to drink less water and be more hydrated than I was drinking a ton of water. I think the cleansing that happened with the
juicing enabled my body to absorb the water better. That is only based on my opinion. Also, after my recent
Water Fast where I was only getting about 2-3
ounces of water per day my tests all showed me as well hydrated.
On the DF - both the one I did in the middle of my WF and this one saw me with a lot of energy and only a little dizziness on one occasion when I overdid some cleaning.
I think as long as you take some precautions you should be fine. Know your body and ask yourself these questions - how often do you pee normally? What color is your pee normally? How much fresh juicy fruit do you consume? How much refined salt do you normally consume? How much overly strenuous activity will you be doing? etc.
If you would like to try DF then consider doing a 36-48 hour one on the weekend. During that time take some status checks of your body and self to see how you are doing. Stay put of the sun and make sure indoors temperature are good and mild. The body has an incredible amount of water in it. As long as you do not go overboard you should be able to do a short-term DF with no problems providing your health allows.
I would not worry much about strokes unless you are prone to strokes or have medical conditions where strokes are a possibility. I have Lupus which has migrated to my brain - yet I suffered no ill effects. I had a brainscan via MRI this yesterday afternoon and preliminary results showed no ill effects.
Check out this link - especially 1.3.3 which list conditions where DF would be contraindicated

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
