Re: What are the most strongest natural chelators?

I think such a general statement is dangerous. We've heard of folks who can become quite ill from eating peanuts or shellfish.

Obviously these people have some abnormality. I'm suggesting that having poor detox genes plus sufficient exposure to mercury is also an abnormality. Mother Nature / God did not intend this.

So while normal people can consume cilantro and benefit from it, someone who has had recent mercury exposure will likely end up with more mercury in the brain like the mice in this study.

Cilantro's chelating "power" is the likely reason the following two people got so sick with mercury symptoms after using it.

At some point Science may learn how to safely harness the power of cilantro so that it can have healing power not devastating effects in those who have an Hg problem.

Until then lipoic acid is naturally used in our bodies; has been tested somewhat and is widely accepted as useful for health--if used in a safe way. If it was not natural it could be called a wonder-drug for all of the good things it does. However, if it is used improperly, the effects can be devastating as well.

These are some examples from the chelation groups.
Inappropriate use of ALA. Sometimes it takes a while for the effects of inappropriate use of chelators to be obvious to adults, let alone autistic kids. These are some examples from adults, some of whom actually had gains in some areas initially but then realized damage was being done, usually to the brain as Hg levels likely increased.
-300 mg ALA, 2x/day. "...improvements in peripheral neuropathy ...then developed worse neurological symptoms…”

-ALA 300mg. Teen in psych hospital w/ suicidal thoughts. Cutler comments on how the inappropriate use might be causing or contributing to the problem. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Autism-Mercury/message/294111

-300mg ALA 2x/day, while I still had amalgams....from really-sick-but-functioning to completely disabled, in just 6 months http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/frequent-dose-chelation/message/24221

-I know a guy at work who has gotten nice improvement in his neuropathy from inappropriate use of ALA; however he looks really foggy and whifty even though he is obviously well educated. He reminds me of my foggy brain before I started to chelate. This is doubly sad because he has a teenage high-level autistic son. The boy would likely benefit from appropriate use of ALA and the boy needs his aging father to be sharp and healthy to help him heal!

Regards,

Joe
