Re: hoping for help: lugols iodine & weight gain
This post caught my eye, I have empathy for your situation.
I am just under a year into my
Iodine journey, and there have been bumps and frustrations as well. I have gained about 5 -6 pounds, on top of the 25 - 30 additional
pounds that I need to lose. ( I bounce between 33.75 and 50 of Iodoral, and am on 1 grain of Naturthyroid).
I don't have a solid answer, but I just had my yearly appt. with my
Iodine doc and brought up the same issue. His response was that due to the amount of toxins being flushed out in my body, my body is falling behind in getting rid of the junk, which is bringing on the extra weight. So, I am now beginning to address my liver, giving much more of what it needs to effectively process the toxins.
He also said drop most carbs, because my body wants to burn simple fuel. He felt that after the liver is "tuned up", things will begin to shift to burn fat in my metabolism.
At this point, I am choosing to believe him and follow his advice. A year ago I wanted to fire him due to my struggles, but a year later, I am convinced that this is the right way to go. My hypothyroid blood work numbers have made great progress, and I can't remember that last time I have had this much energy, all day. Would like to drop weight also, but I am choosing to be patient and do the work...
I am sure many here will have responses that are useful and worthwhile. You have come to the right place to get insight and experience.
