Yeah it seemed odd to me as well that you'd suddenly become lactose intolerant. Take a break from the milk kefir is probably a good idea.

Perhaps you could try other foods with beneficial bacteria in the meantime if your goal is more probiotics in your gut. Just something to consider.

I used to just add orange juice to my plain milk kefir and it made it just sweet enough and less thick.
