Vomiting bile when fasting - electrolyte imbalance?

Hi water fasters, it's been a while, I know...

I've been reading through a few posts and blogs as I sit here contemplating my next fast and wonder about why so many people (myself included) suffer from the symptoms of lethargy and bile vomiting when water fasting.

I have a theory.

I'm not exactly sure of the physiology behind it, and why it would induce bile, but I think it has something to do with electrolytes. It just seems a little too coincidental that those who have ingested salt or coconut water have experienced IMMEDIATE remission of their symptoms. And what about that guy who ended up with the IV in his neck? Dehydrated?? On a water fast???

Remember, coconut water is high in potassium, and contains other goodies such as magnesium, iron etc so I wonder if these solutes are doing something, like the obvious being keeping the person hydrated.

Looking back on my personal experience, the laboured heart beat, feelings of dizziness and nausea... these are all symptoms of dehydration. I was using pure distilled water too, which can lead to demineralization. As these minerals are pulled out of the blood into the urine, they take the water with it (osmosis). I did seem to pee water straight back out again, and it was very clear, just like it went in. Like maybe I was rinsing my blood too "clean" of minerals/salts. Maybe I was drinking too much water!

Is it actually possible to become dehydrated from too much water??? Hmmm... probably not. But maybe...

Maybe dehydrated isn't the right term, but there is something going on here, and I personally don't believe they are all symptoms of detoxification. I think it's a lot simpler than that.

Electrolytes. Solutes. Something.
