Re: 11 weeks on plan...no more abdominal pain, greater energy, more flexible, great appetite, itch symptom persists so I have a question
Some people can have the blood sugar imbalance but not the typical hypoglycemic effect. It's still important for them to eat regularly and establish a steady blood sugar level in the body.
The blood sugar imbalances can suppress immune system function, create hormonal imbalances, and affect cortisol production by the adrenals. Each of these can play a role in increasing levels of inflammation throughout the body.
The typical concept of a leaky gut, is that chronic inflammation creates degenerative changes at the tight junctions between cells lining the intestinal tract. Another cause is from candida creating holes in the intestinal wall via its fungal form. While both are possible, what's not understood is that intestinal cells are some of the fastest regenerative/repairing cells in the body. Most people think that once they have leaky gut, then they always have a leaky gut, and that's not likely to be true. It's a static view, or snapshot, of what tends to be a very dynamic process. They can have ongoing allergies due to episodic periods of leaky gut, but the cells will regenerate and repair damage to the intestinal wall. With chronic inflammation, it can happen off and on.
