Re: pH (how long does it take

All of these things can be misleading... and blood pH is NOT a good indicator either, because if it is... there are already severe problems.

Anyone's body will attempt to maintain the blood pH within a narrow range at *all* costs. Those *costs*, such as robbing whatever it needs in terms of alkaline substances, from less important systems, the bones, or even through the manufacture of *alkaline* ammonia, slowly, in order to keep the blood pH in a narrow range, over time, and as it gets worse, causes all kinds of chronic disease as the *systems*, *organs*, and *bones* degrade over time.

The lymph fluid, and its pH is perhaps the best indicator, not the blood.

Urine AND saliva pH tests are simple tools that *can* help with that if one knows what they are doing, however, they are not definitive, as either can change and vary pH throughout the day with activity, a drink, and/or a meal.

In addition, we do *require* acids in order to absorb, assimilate, and utilize alkaline substances/minerals properly - this is why it is beneficial to eat a healthy fat (fatty acids), with every mineral rich meal. This is also a rather simple thing to do by ensuring a good, healthy gut - this is where a healthy gut flora from mouth to anus comes in. The belief that using things like HCL, or baking soda to swing things one way or the other is due to an unhealthy gut environment... and the ability of these *supplements* to *aid* us when we are out of *flora balance*.

In other words, they do have their place, but should not be relied upon for longterm use. The ideal would be to correct the gut over time and eliminate the supplemental need of whatever.

Alkaline/acid balance is the name of the game... if one needs a bit more or less of something in their diet in order to bring things into balance, that is what *they* need as an *individual*.

Think nutritarian - good, clean, whole foods that are very high in nutritional value, and that cover *all* nutritional needs... whether the choice is to be a vegan, vegetarian, or omnivore.

Lifestyle is important too... the harder one physically works, and/or is stressed, the more acids they will produce, and the more nutrient dense their diet should be.

Over time, things will right themselves.
