Re: Stressed and wired 24/7
Hey again. I will be glad to share more of what has worked for me but you will have to take into account my age and other problems I am dealing with.
Firstly I think Dr. Lam is awesome as far as his knowledge about the adrenals, other hormones, symptoms, and stages. I find him to be right on. As soon as my body started rejecting the vitamin c, I knew there had to be better answers for healing. And I have spent countless hours reading and researching. That's the investigator side of me. My conclusion is that when our bodies are in such a weakened state, synthetic vitamins are way too harsh for us, not that they ever really do any good. That meaning that we don't pay attention to what is really in the vitamins we do take.
I am 40 yrs old and have also been dealing with premenapause. Also and Dr. Lam discusses this, the thyroid. He calls it the Ovarian Adrenal Thyroid Axes. When your adrenals aren't working properly, these other 2 go haywire. Now as I understand it, hypothyroid can cause everything to go amuck, and hyperthyroid is normally from an underlying cause. I could very well be wrong though. So after a few months of focusing on my adrenals, I am now working on the ovaries and those hormones. My hopes are this will bring balance back to everything including the thyroid. When they tested your saliva for cortisol, did they do it at different times during the day or just one swipe? I know that most of my symptoms indicated my aldosterone levels. Was that ever checked? Another question is how is your digestive system? Poor digestion is a big indicator of fluctuating cortisol.Dr. Lam discusses it as a symptom but new tests show that cortisol and digestion are directly linked.
I was almost completely bed ridden in February and March. The anxiety, heart palpitations, fatigue, and body aches were unbareable. And again, the
Sea Salt was my very first step to gaining ground. I was diagnosed with stage 3c adrenal exhaustion and autonomic nervous sytem dysfunction. Today I would say I am at least 85% better. I am still a little weak and have issues around that time of the month. I am alot more active and happier.
You mentioned taking sleeping pills? I took tylenol pm every night for years. I thought I would never be able to go to sleep without it. Now I go to sleep pretty easily and sleep really good. I take 50 mg of 5-HTP at night. The drink I drink has that and melatonin in it. You don't want to take too much melatonin though. The 5-HTP also helps with your mood. Please try and get off the sleeping pills. You can.
Bee Pollen is also a very awesome thing. And yes you get your B vitamins from it. Google the benefits sometime, pretty cool. Again for the vitamin c I take Rose Hips and my body loves it. When I took ascorbic acid my gums receded beyond belief. They bled and hurt. To balance my hormones I am taking Vitex. B vitamins also help with your hormones as well as Bitters. Bitters helps clean your liver and that in turn helps it to regulate hormones. Drink lots of water to aid in that if you give Bitters a try. I am also taking Ashwagandha and Licorice Root for my adrenals.
I had to find this stuff out on my own because there just isn't a doctor close by that knows anything about this stuff and I spent way too much on regular doctors that just said I was mental. I will be glad to answer any specific question you have or just bounce thoughts back and forth. I can say that I have not experienced any crash(so far) and my only set backs have been from my monthly visitor. Hope this helps and glad to help more if I can.
Sal
