Re: Any Ideas On How To Cure or Treat Autoimmune Disease?
Thank you HV. I am pretty much ditching everything and starting over. The Quercetin seems to be helping quite a bit with my aches and pains. It also warms me up nicely. I am worried about taking it long term so I hope my body balances out to where I don't have so much inflammation going on a daily basis.
Quercetin is antiviral, anti-inflammatory and it does help support thyroid function. It is safe for long term use. The breakdown of quercetin is another flavonoid known as rutin, which strengthens blood vessels.
I will discontinue the borage oil - I do not need hormonal problems.
It will not cause hormonal problems in all women, but some women do develop hormonal imbalances from borage oil. Same with evening primrose oil.
I might try Amla, but there again I worry my body will not tolerate it. If not I will just have to eat Kiwis or something.
And as far as the pantothenic acid and B vitamins, I am trying the bee pollen again. If that doesn't work out for me then I will get some nutritional yeast.
Nettle leaf is also good, and it supports the adrenals. Seaweeds are also a good source of B vitamins.
I am curious about something. Does quercetin have the effect of increasing body temp in everybody or is it increasing *my* body temp by lowering the inflammation that is causing problems for my thyroid and adrenal glands?
Quercetin supports thyroid function, which wil raise body temperature in some cases of hypothyroidism.
I'm leaning towards the idea that it is warming me up by lowering my inflammation because when I took the oils that also lowered my inflammation and got rid of my terrible aching, my body temp warmed up with those also.
Less inflammation does take stress off the adrenals since it does not have to work so hard producing the body's anti-inflammatories. And stronger adrenals again can mean a better functioning thyroid.
Do you think Chapparal and Pau D' Arco could resolve an autoimmune problem?
Not alone. They can help destroy the pathogens associated with many autoimmune disorders, but you still need to build up the adrenals as well to counter the over production of low affinity antibodies and to keep inflammation down.
Are there risks in taking these herbs?
Pau d' arco is pretty safe. Even in excessively high doses it will only cause diarrhea and some blood thinning. Although allergies can occur to it. This is mostly seen in loggers cutting these trees who are frequently exposed to the tree bark.
Chaparral is also safe as long as it has been dried for at least a few months. It should not be used fresh. And I do nto recommend tinctures since tinctures are frequently made from fresh herbs. Chaparral and some other herbs contain alkaloids that are toxic to the liver when used fresh. The alkaloids are unstable though and readily oxidize, and so are completely destroyed after a few months.
