Yes, it is.  There are all sorts of hypotheses of what 666 means including that these refer to letters, "W" to be specific for "WWW".  So which hypothesis is right?

Hollywood was responsible though for making the whole 666 thing popular as the symbol for the Devil.

And I am not going to get in to a religious debate, but if you know about the Bible then you know:

1.  There are literally hundreds of different Bibles.

2.  The Bible has been rewritten and altered by man over and over and over and over......  The Bible was supposedly based on the information within the Dead Sea Scrolls.  Yet translation of the Dead Sea Scrolls is showing the Bible is not even close to what what the modern Bible states.  For fun look up what the original 10 Commandments really were.  They are quite a bit different from what we have learned.  And look up how many different versions of Genesis there are.  Some Bibles even have more than one version within the same Bible.

3.  How many "Books" were left out of the Bible.  The churches picked and chose what Books were to be allowed in the Bible to begin with then rewrote each of the included Books to fit their individual needs.  Especially when it came to things like the Spanish Inquisition and the Holy Wars so they could justify their killing of people and control.
