Re: O/T ....Mercury Poisoning

Hi! :)
You've gotten some good input in this thread. I'm going to look at this from a different perspective. This may be completely off-mark, but my husband lost a tooth a couple of years ago and it really depressed him...
He's afraid of getting old and dying. So yes, he's depressed and wonky because he does not know how to deal with this.
I saw a cartoon a long time ago, by Shel Silverstein. It was a panel cartoon and the subject matter was fear of the dentist. The first panel showed the patient in the chair, succeeding panels showed the dentist going through all sorts of contortions to extract a tooth, the last panel....success!!! Not only does the dentist manage to pull the tooth he pulls the man's entire skeleton from his body leaving behind an amorphous pile of flesh.
For a long time I looked at that cartoon as a purely physical joke. Now that I am older, I see that...that's a really deep cartoon. We march towards death, one tooth at a time, one more gray hair, one more wrinkle. eeek! *I'm depressing myself* At any rate, the skeleton is the end result.
Am I making any sense at all?
And THAT dentist visit sounds AWFUL. Pulling out chunks, having to go back and get fragments, eeew. Sounds horrible. And what a wake-up call that this mortal coil is breaking down...
So, IMO, he needs to have some fun and enjoy life. Whatever that may be, to him. He might have to do it without you(as in, a bunch of guys going fly-fishing or whatever). He might want to do it WITH you. You probably need some RnR as well. I know that you work AND have kids AND you have been vigilant about taking care of your health issues...
A possibility a vacation for the two of you- no kids. Something laid-back. Rent a cabin or a cottage somewhere...on a lake. Go hiking. Make hot chocolate, read aloud to each other. You both probably need to lighten up.
He also might need to rediscover some lost interests or create new ones. Some sports, something physical, something to give him an adrenalin rush...
Adulthood is kind of sucky. Sometimes it turns into an unending list of chores and responsibilities that we dutifully tend to for years and years... then all of a sudden we're losing teeth. Not really fair, is it?
