Re: Diet after Water Fasting

I agree with WY on those points. I have fasted on and off to break cravings. I CANNOT "just have a little" of certain items and get by with it. It snowballs into "next time I will have a little more" Just the nature of me. I have an addictive personality and am a recovered alcoholic also. I react very strongly to caffeine and even the caffeine in chocolate will have an effect on me. I do not wish to be controlled by what I eat, and indulging in either caffeine or chocolate does just that. I went three years with no refined sugars, or chocolate after one 21 day fast. That is my goal now - to break the addiction to these substances and repair the damage I've done along the way with other substances. I want the healthiest "Me" I can be.

My choices for leaning towards raw, vegan and vegetarian have a whole lot more to do with the things that are in our meats these days. The 94 year old grandfather lived a lot of his life without mass produced meats from animal factories. If I do dabble in meats again I will go the same route as before - organic fed animals not boxed up in stalls and being injected with Antibiotics due to close quarters.

I have an older son who reacted quite severely to Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) - and learned from his doctor that Aspartame was only a molecule away in structure, therefore I should avoid that also. I DO NOT EVER indulge in things sweetened with aspartame.

That is MY choice based on MY genetics and the things I have learned from the study of MY family tree. Whereas some families are fraught with cancers - mine is with addiction. Where some have generations of obesity, some families have no issue there. My children are all very lean and have no weight issues. The odds are that of the four of them there is likely to be addiction issues with more than one of them.

Indulging in sugars has a huge impact on my overall thinkig and feeling. If I had a scientific background I would look into that connection with addiction...as I feel there is a strong connection.

Once my body is very "clean" and I'm "reformatted" (which is what a fast does for me) I have a hard time eating certain foods in any quantity. Bananas often make me "dizzy" if I've been away from sugar. Wheats and breads made with them are highly appealing to me - but I feel bogged down after eating them.

Very much the same as alcohol was to me. One is too many and 100 is never enough. Once I start - it is very hard to stop with items I have an addiction to. Caffeine being the major issue outside of alcohol.

As far as "health" I do not go to a doctor myself and have only been in the hospital in the past 20 years to have two babies (I had the next two at hoem with a midwife as I didn't see the purpose of being in a hospital when I was not sick) I also had one physical emergency. When Ibuprofen turned on me (allergic reaction) I did end up going in to have an IV to stop the pain after two days. That was when I knew I had to start fasting again and kick that issue.

Other than those trips I do not have anything that stands out or would seem odd to others and require a trip to the doctor. Hard to explain "muddy thinking" or inability to "get going" at times. To me those are natural reactions to the bad fuel I was putting in...crap in crap out.

That being said - to each his own. I know what works best for me through many years of trial and error. I have seen skepticism in others when my son as a toddler reacted so severely to Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) he had to be restrained for at last 45 mins to keep him from harming himself...until the "others" were there and witnessed it. Not everyone will have those reactions...but for those who do they are very REAL and very painful to deal with.
