Re: Iodine and Cortisol

Hi, Iodine (lugols) also made my anxiety go through the roof at times, at the time i just thought it was heavy metal detox but only learnt about the adrenal issue recently and haven't tried Iodine for a while now. i had the cortisol and dhea test done at the end of last year and my output was very low, it was good for confirmation as ive supsected AF for a long time.

For my AF I'm currently taking normal b5 (500mg) sodium ascorbate, b6, b complex and plan to add paba to that soon. when i run out of the b5 i plan to get some panthenine instead as its supposed to work better. the current regime im on does not seem to be doing much for the AF after a few weeks on it. But yes its recommended to sort your adrenals before tackling the thyroid or going on thyroid meds so could very well be the same for iodine, although i think those on here say Iodine helps the adrenals too so just go on it.

And as Insight mentioned about teeth, my teeth have given me some real problems especially in the last 3 or so years. I lost most of a tooth last year that had a cavity and just started to chip away. and a few other cavities have been forming. as a kid i had great teeth, no fillings in my adult teeth. I often get bad tooth pains that feels like the enamel is being eaten away by acid that doesn't go even after brushing. I read hypothyrodism can cause tooth problems although my tsh, free t3 and free t4 were all normal. although i realise this doesnt rule out thyroid problems completely.. the good news is that taking k2, magnesium, boron, d3 and silica seems to have helped significantly with the tooth pain.

On a side note i tried hydrocortisone cream about 1/4 teaspoon rubbed into skin to increase cortisol as a short cut measure and it did make me feel better a few hours later (i feel fatigued most of the time and have Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome too) but the tooth pain got a lot worse at the same time. i read the cortisol increases bone loss so that could be the reaon, and for that reason i decided to not take the hydrocortisone again. i will probably go back on the iodine in the next month or so and see if there's any difference.

EDIT: another thing is that when taking the Lugols my teeth also got worse with more enamel pain. I always suspected it was the Lugols being in contact with my teeth whilst drinking it (either 1/2 or 1 dropperful in 1 pint of water, maybe it was too strong), but it may not have been that, another reason why i've been putting off going back on it, at least till i've helped me teeth somewhat.
