I agree with you. And the idea that a prospective parent should achieve sufficiency, optimal nutritional status, etc, before conception is well-established.
To suggest though that a prospective parent should avoid Iodine is ridiculous and irresponsible.
There are lots of studies out there that show the effects of supplemental Iodine during pregnancy, on maternal thyroid function, neonate thyroid status and childhood intellectual development, etc.
Am I suggesting that a prospective parent should megadose on iodine? Nope. Never have and never will.
