The time to become *sufficient*, in any nutritive substance, in both the male and female, is *before* conception... with foods if at all possible, and then with the addition of supplements, if absolutely necessary... not after.
Then...
Nutritional soundness of *diet* during pregnancy is paramount, as it is during breast feeding... HOWEVER, *isolated chemical* sources during pregnancy, are not such a good idea IMO either.
