The link you supplied is as you say a 'discussion', not proof that it works.
I have some sympathay for the 'foot bath' approach. Even better would be to put lots of the flakes into a full bath, but spaying it on your skin and expecting lots of magnesium to make its way to your blood stream is laughable.
