Re: Doing really well

What do you consider "high doses" and why not for people with MCS? Thank you for explaining.

Would you also mind explaining in more detail about how it almost killed you? Did it ever feel as though it was improving things? Could you give us a description of your symptoms with it?

HIgh doses would be freddd's protocol. Anything above 1mg a day of b12 would be considered a high dose and even at 1mg you are getting 16,667% of the RDA which doesn't really mean much but still. In my case, b12 stimulated my nervous system. Cobalamin works directly in the nervous system among many other places and are really good for you nerves. However, I suffer from leaky gut and MCS and a very sensitized nervous system to many compounds and it made my sensitivities a whole lot worse. My neurological weakness symptoms all went away including my tremors and my facial muscle weakness and twitches but given my situation, it made things way worse.

It affected my breathing and allergic reactions like you would not believe. During b12 is when i had to be wheelchaired into doc's apts and even then sitting in the wheelchair i felt like someone was choking me , very hard to explain. When checked, my pulse ox was below 89 after about 10 feet of walking and if you know anything about pulse ox, that is a very dangerous thing. Literally, that is the oxygen concentration that your tissues are getting up in mount everest so you imagine how bad it feels. And yet nothing is wrong with my lungs so doctors really think i make it up or cannot really fathom what it means to "not breath". To not breath in my case, was cellular deprivation of oxygen. And this was due to the histamine release. and b12 stimulates the nervous system, which is responsible for large histamine release in response to foreign molecules like in MCS.

My cortisol went up through the roof as well and it was like normally very low but on b12 it went up HIGH HIGH way above to a dangerous level and i was blowing up in everyone's faces and i believe that was an adrenal response to the histamine that my body was producing in large amounts.

Note that i'm an exception and a rare case. My family members tolerate b12 well and per my advice, my mom takes 1mg of methylcobalamin a day and her facial neurological issues are gone. But things to consider are that it will not be a cure all or a cure for everyone. It may help some, but not all. Just like any other treatment out there. Freddd is a very adamant person that believes everyone can benefit from his protocol and while i believe his motives and intentions are good, he is quite deluded that it will work for everyone and that it is most people's problems due to the fact that it saved him. I have nothing against him personally of course and it has helped many people but based on the healthboard you visit, that healthboard's topic is always "the problem". When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Over at the thyroid or adrenal boards, they're all about thyroid thyrdoi thyroid and optimizing via hormones, and at freddds b12 thread, its all about b12 and vitamins and methylation cycles, etc. Its great info and always good to check out, not always the problem though.
