Re: Blastocystis vs. Probiotics?

Your story sounds like many I've read in that after a course of Antibiotics / parasite killers, that the symptoms return weeks/months later. I've read this happening with and without a followup negative stool test. I would suspect that the drugs (just like herbals) do diminish the parasite colonies but under certain conditions they come back full swing. I've been taking probiotics, along with some other supplements and my Blasto is actually better. So, I don't think probiotics cause any issues, at least not for me. Whether you feed the parasites probiotics or not, they will find plenty to eat otherwise. The gut contains an unlimited supply of bacteria, and the foods we eat supply even more. Probitoics just increase the amount. In my opinion, I would take the probiotics, as it can only help to strengthen the gut which is what is needed to fight off the enemy. Getting over Blasto is a long commitment of weeks/months of healthy living. Gentle care and feeding of the gut is of upmost importance. One cannot let down their guard and take chances on the immune system taking a hit, or damaging the intestines while they are healing. No alcohol, no stress (or limited), plenty of rest and deep sleep, happy living, lots of prayers. The body can heal itself, but only if you allow it to.
