If you are taking too much Iodine for your thyroid or too much thyroid meds you can go hyper. But, it's not permanent, as soon as you drop back to your physiological optimal dose you're no longer hypo. Just go by the way a particular dose feels. If you're taking too much, your body will tell you. But if you're like most of us, it'll be a while before you reach saturation. The thing with being Iodine deficient and full of bromide, the Iodine receptors are faulty. It can take a while to "wake" them up and in some cases signal the body to "make" more. I think Dr. David Brownstein stated at minimum it takes 6 months to reach saturation--if your iodine receptors are working properly and you're not too toxic with bromides. But for most of us, it can take a year or more.
