Re: Natural Fibroid Treatment-in Australia???
Hi fellow fibroid funsters,
I want to update everybody. I have had fibroids for 5 years now. The flooding was out of control for 18 months, I was wearing incontinance aids, I looked 9 months pregnant, everybody said so including the surgeon. For 4 years I was told that I needed a hysterectomy, no other operation would help. I did research, both natural and modern, trying herbs, vitalzym etc along the way, the only solution was the one I didn't want. Anyway, late last year I couldn't manage anymore so I made an appointment with a surgeon. When I did see him, do you know what he said? "Oh, you're a bit young for that, let's try something else!"
I had a myomectomy, removing most of the fibroid. I had blood transfusions, was in hospital for a week, and still have part of the fibroid because they couldn't get it all, but the flooding has stopped and I have a life again! I can't tell you what a relief it is. I know that stats say that it will grow back but I'm doing everything I can to prevent that.
Bottom line, for anyone who is struggling with treatment for fibroids, know this... No GP or Gynaecologist can tell you what a surgeon is capable of doing, only a surgeon can tell you that. I'm so grateful that I gave in to the possibility of a hysterectomy, I just wish that GP's & Gyno's were better educated about the possibilities, having surgery earlier would have made such a difference, and maybe even removed the whole fibroid without blood transfusions. Still, I'm immensely grateful to the DR who did it. He did say that he had never before removed such a large fibroid and he didn't know anyone who had.
To those people struggling, seeing a surgeon to discuss your options doesn't mean you agree to have it. Just do your research, be prepared when you see the DR, have questions, if you do agree to the surgery, don't do it half sure, do your homework, know beforehand that it's what you want. Angels on each shoulder! luv Samster
