Apartments Forced Notice from Dogs. Harassment?

I received a notice from my landlord citing that "several" complaints have come in about my dogs. Apparently they go out on the porch and bark at people and they are "aggressive and scary" so I have to "remove" the dogs or turn in my notice to leave.
The barking, I can handle. The "scary and aggressive" is what gets to me. Is that serious? That can't be serious. You mean my dogs whining and crying when someone walks by, because they want to play, is more scary than the huge pittbull next door who lunges at the window and barks her head off at everyone when her human companion is not home? Even I think that's scary from time to time and I happen to know that dog is sweet as pie and would never hurt anyone for no good reason.

I got this notice one day before Thanksgiving so my holidays this year are completely ruined. I have no savings to move so any Christmas gifts that I have already purchased for my family will need to be returned or sold. I will have to secure another place to live over Finals week at school, pack up my life over Christmas, and move over New Years.

MY DOGS ARE NOT SCARY OR AGGRESSIVE!!!! The landlord will not work with me on this as these are orders sent down from the OWNER. The owner has never been here...I've lived here for three years and still have no idea who owns this place. They never come by to fix things (No I'm not that sad about leaving) and they never came by to warn me or confirm these rumors.

I have a belief that it's only ONE person pretending to be multiple people. I am more annoyed by the screaming child across the hall from me than I am by the hound dog upstairs who I thought was an owl for the first month of them moving in. How can I fight this? Nothing I say seems to work.
