Re: Long term digestive enzyme use

There is contradictory information about long term use of glandular enzymes. Some articles say long term use won't atrophy the glans and other authors say yes, it will. I can not tell you for sure what is going to happen if you take enzymes for long term. They probably suppress the ability of your glans to produce the enzymes during supplementation, but probably, the organs will produce them again after you stop the supplementation. Definetely, gastric enzymes are helpful to improve the digestion when dysbiosis is present. HCL and food stimulate digestive enzymes secretion. Most of the candida sufferers are lack of gastric acid and this cause low enzyme secretions. I think taking HCL capsules will stimulate digestive enzyme secretions, especially, pancreatic enzymes. L- Histedine tablets can stimulate the parietal cells to produce more HCL. Honestly, I don't know what cause hypoclorhydria in candida sufferers. It could be an atrophic gastritis caused by long term H. Pylori infection before the candida infection, and autoimmune attack against the parietal cells caused by immunesuppression, severe stress, malnutrition, or the result of autoimmune disorders such as Celiac, Graves, Hashimoto, etc. I take both, HCL and pancreatic enzymes. Plant enzymes are safer than animal enzymes so it is all to you to decide if you want and need to take them. Regarding to the long term use, I am taking my own risk because I am not sure about the long term side effects.
