In my country, availability and initial purchase cost, are the main problems discouraging people from buying electric cars. At the moment they have to be imported, which adds to the cost.

People would also like to see renewable and sustainable power sources available to charge these vehicles. No use having a car that does not burn fossil fuels, if to charge it, you use power created by burning fossil fuels. (coal fired power stations etc).

I do think there is an optimistic outlook, because as demand grows, the supply and technology will get better, (you only need to look at mobile phones and computers to see this is how things work). Electric cars, charged up with power from clean, renewable sources, can't wait :)
