Since you're talking about 'organic' produce I don't see any need at all to put it in the washing machine. All I do with my organic produce is lightly rinse it off. I just like to make sure anything that was on the hands of the handlers gets washed off of the produce. If it was organically grown there should be no toxins on the produce to begin with.
Plus, I can't even begin to imagine what leafy greens would look like when they came out of even the gentle cycle on the machine. It seems to me they'd be all wilted and messed up.
I'm all for saving time when I can but I think that we have become so overly worried about a little dirt that it's harmed our immune systems. We have become such a sterilized society it truly has wreaked havoc with the way we are able to fight off disease.
