Re: Rinsing produce!!

I use the washing machine to clean carrots from the garden every summer and fall. It works wonderfully for me. It sure beats scrubbing my knuckles off standing at the sink on all those little carrots!! I have an older top loader and put in probably about 10-15lbs of carrots, set it on cold wash and cold rinse, gentle cycle and low water(small load)and a fairly short wash cycle (6 mins) and let it go. They come out beautifully clean. Depending on the brittleness of the carrots, they could get a bit beat up but you're just juicing anyway. I just put them in a bag, wipe out my washer and refrigerate. All I have to do is trim the tops and juice. Some machines have pre-soak cycles you could try. I haven't used it for anything other than carrots but if you have a gentle or hand wash cycle, I would give it a try.
