Re: What qualifies as a personal attack, name calling, verbal abuse?

i am happy to remove any insulting language i may have used.

please direct me to such an instance and i will edit the posting accordingly.

i am relieved that there was some moderation on this debate because i was wondering why so much abusive language was allowed to continue.

as far as i understand, in a debate it is allowable to say something like...

your idea is laughable

or

the premise of is laughable.

but not

YOU are laughable

or

YOU are ridiculous.

in other words, ideas and concepts are all fair game, but once it crosses over into an attack on the person it is not.

it seems as though i am guilty of annoying my opponents, but i am not sure if this was caused by the use of logic or from actually overstepping boundaries.

it is not my place to request this, but i will because i think it is relevant. i ask that the heretofore personal attacks remain uncensored for prosperity to see. i think it is relevant as to how this whole debate has unfolded and it actually does speak to the issue -- in my opinion discrediting certain people's arguments. i would like these to remain on record, but from henceforth i agree that the attacks are best stopped.
