Straw man

I was just reading the same type of thing with in abatements done through what was called Jural Societies in the 1990's. Are you familiar with them?

I had asked Turiya how to explain what the "strawman" is to our neighbors. I'm learning, that's what you are talking about. The ALL CAPS name, is your straw man, right?

I just looked this up. Black's Law Dictionary (abridged 8th edition)says:

straw man: 1. A fictitious person, esp. one that is weak or flawed. 2. A tenuous and exaggerated counterarguement that an advocate makes for the sole purpose of disaproving it. Also termed straw-man arguement. 3. A third party used in some transactions as a temporary transferee to allow the principal parties to accomplish something that is otherwise impermissible. 4. A person hired to post a worthless bail bond for the release of an accused.
