Re: Ask The Herbalist: Myth of Cold & Flu Season
Oh my, I'm glad I asked you that one. Great information. The HFS guy was trying to get me into Dr. Christopher big time. He was going to loan me a CD with his stuff.
Andographis - I was going to try this anyway as a bitter, which I think was the one you recommended. Sounds like it would be good to have around the house for general infections. I didn't see it in your selection of bulk herbs on the Mountain Mist site. I'll check the HFS. Any thoughts on how to get kids to take it, especially if it's bitter?
My 11 year old has what I believe is otitis externa. She's prone to middle infections but says this feels different - hurts to put her finger in her ear or pull on ear drum. Doesn't hurt to yawn. I'm sure the Dr. would prescribe
Antibiotic ear drops. Is this harmful even though it's not a systemic drug? I'm waiting one more day before I take her in. I want to try some natural rememdies. I researched your past posts and see that you don't recommend water-based treatments (silver or peroxide). How about vinegar/alcohol? I have some tea tree oil too. I also have Nutribiotic Ear Drops with grapefruit seed extract and tea tree oil.
Thank you for your thorough and sensitive responses. I'm sure my posts are responsible for some of your sleep deprivation!
