Re: My hard plight - Story of a 29 year old dealing with folliculitis decalvans for more than 10 years
Hi people
I had scalp folliculitis and I think I even passed it on to my dad when he used the same clippers to shave his own head after shaving mine. I do martial arts and assume I picked it up from the rolling around. The combination of my hair follicles being pushed inward combined with staph bacteria on the mats.
I went to see the doctor and was prescribed
Antibiotics . Each time I went on them it helped briefly but would come back with a vengence once my course was up.
My father had it and used hydrocortisone and it cleared it up for him.
Therefore I decided to try it...it had the effect of drying up the area, but the itch wouldn't quite go away so I fear my scratching the area would only serve to spread it to other areas of the scalp.
I had a friend with severe and itchy eczema who used Sudocrem to alleviate the itchy problem so I decided to try it for myself. Therefore everytime I felt an itch I would apply some sudocrem... initially it didn't work and I realised I was applying it tepidly and with a full head of hair it doesn't reach the skin...so I decided every night before bed that I would apply it profusely until the itchiness would go away and since Sudocrem was cheap I didn't mind this. I applied ample amounts and this helped to cure my case of scalp folliculitis. I had it quite ferociously at times and none of the doctors suggestions seemed to work, everytime it would come back with a vengence. The
Antibiotics , anti fungal stuff didn't work for a whole year!.....until the magic of Sudocrem.
Please try this remedy and see if it works for you! Hope this helps people!.... I am now back on the mats rolling... and glad that I found a solution that worked for me! I was so impressed with Sudocrem and did not realise this product was so easily accessible.
Good Luck!
PS. Apologies if what I have isn't on the same scale, but I believe if I didn't find a solution to the problem I think it would have ravaged my scalp also, i did have it for a year and it was really frustrating.
