I was really struck by your example of the person who spends five minutes every morning feeling really sorry for himself! I've wondered for a long time why that part of EFT tapping, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, works so well. It's the part where you dump all your negative thoughts and emotions, tapping on the acupuncture meridian points as you talk. Now I think I understand it better. It's giving ourselves the caring and empathy we so deep down want. And then we let it go! Usually those thoughts and feelings of self pity, anger, resentment, etc, just resolve and joyful, resourceful thoughts and feelings move in to take their place. But if they don't, you can purposefully tap them in. Love it!
