Re: identifying pinworms

I've been dealing with these things for the last 7 months and all along, people have been telling me that these are NOT pins.

I've used one of your suggestions and expanded on it to try to get some relief and so far it's working. I spray a mini pad with Vodka and do the same with a cotton make up removing pad and put that on my anus. Stings a bit but stops them dead in their tracks! and I found one dead one and picked it up with tape. Again, this thing is so small it was hard to see.

A couple of comments that I would appreciate feedback on for anyone that has these persistent types....

According to Wikipedia, the females die after laying eggs. My experience is that I feel them crawl out, and about, sometimes stinging, then right back up the same place they came out of. If they died, I'm sure I would see some evidence of the dead bodies. I have seen a few. They dry up and are difficult to see but if they die after laying eggs I should be able to see a lot of carcasses.

These things seldom bother me in the morning but often start in the afternoon or evening and not just at night. It often depends on whether I am active or not.

Any comments?
