When you wipe with toilet paper some are stuck but get crushed - harder to see under a microscope I think, and harder for you to see if you got a viable sample. And toilet paper deteriorates more quickly than kleenex.

So that's why folding 2 kleenex in 4 (to make a small flat wash cloth) worked for me. It is a smooth service that doesn't fall apart with the rubbing alcohol saturated on it.

And then you can see exactly what has stuck to it when you press it against the area and lift off without rubbing.
