I'm taking 5mg biotin so a high dose.

All I know is that biotin stops Candida turning hyphal or mycelial which is harder to get rid of and more serious. Also ppl with biotinidase defiency ( the enzyme that recycles biotin in the body) have a greater risk of candidiasis. Also good bacteria produce biotin in the gut so if a healthy gut has adequate biotin it doesn't make sense that it work against you. If I had simple spore forming Candida in the gut only it would be so much easier to get under control I think.
