They really are quite beautiful creatures, I hate having to kill them. If I have to kill them I do it very quickly by chopping their heads off with a long handled shovel. Unfortunately we don't have anyone local that will remove them to another location, and nobody wants any more of them on their property either. Mind you, they are not in the least bit endangered around here, we literally get swamped with snakes during the summer, and unfortunately the vast majority of snakes in Australia are deadly.
We have a huge, very old, (at least 20 years old) and very beautiful, tiger snake, that lives in the vacant lot at the back of our hostel. He never makes a pest of himself and eats all the mice and rats around the area, so we leave him to himself and he does the same for us :)
