fish oil. omega three fats and schizophrenia
I have read large doses of fish oil (maybe 5000 mg) or so can change a schizophrenic to the point when tested during a study they show no signs of the disease and the pet scan shows a complete change in the area of the brain that formerly showed up with the same person when they where told to push a button whenever they were having an hallucination (a certain area of the brain would show this on the pet scan yet after taking the fish oil in large doses this area looked different..at the same time the person no longer showed signs of it. My brother tried it but I think only 3000 mg and stopped after just 2 months and gave it too soon IMO and at too low a dose. I did not buy the book I saw this in and when I went back it was gone so I can't give the reference but the book showed fish oil helping with all kinds of mental disorders like bipolar, dyslexia, agoraphobia, depression, etc..just about every mental disease is helped by taking fish oil and most of these when backed up by studies using the pet scan. Get a good quality fish oil..
Also try Dr John R Christopher's bone, flesh, and cartilage formula which he said in the save your life videos helped schizophrenic..but make a tincture yourself using organic herbs and not the weak capsules currently sold that are not organic as organics have 7-10 times more of the phytochemicals that cure and prevent disease, go to Google videos and watch Richard Schulz videos including how to make a tincture. If you cannot find this email me for the save your life program link where he shows this and all about the program and making all kinds of herbal products. After squeezing out your tincture, put it in a dark, labeled bottle expiring 5 years from date you finished (it will be good though for years beyond that..take 2 dropperfuls (60 drops) 5 times a day in a spoon of juice of water (if you are 150
lbs. if 300
pounds double..use Clark's rule for dosing. (listed already)

When eating fresh or canned fish (in addition too not instead of), be sure it is high in omega 3 fatty acids (mackerel, herring, salmon, sardines are best). Also avoid most oils but some of the best types. Do not cook with olive oil. I just read organic coconut oil is the best cooking oil. Maybe udo's choice and flax seed oil and olive (take these uncooked in salads) as certain oils hardened the neurotransmitter receptor sites so that it is difficult for the neurotransmitters to connect to the next neuron as it can't wiggle in the neurotransmitter receptor site (like a docking bay) due to it not being flexible like it is supposed to be causing chemical imbalances. It may take 2 years of avoidance of oils that cause this and of course, avoid transfats. I am sorry I cannot remember where I saw that article about the oils effects on the neurotransmitter receptor sites and the good results by avoidance of certain facts in order to get the results. I wish I had it but going off the top of my head).Cooking olive oil causes transfats to form is what I just read in the article about coconut oils being superior as a cooking oil.
Plant sources of omega three fats are flax seeds and flax seed oils (uncooked), raw walnuts, purslane and chia seeds is a really good source and a super food. f you mix it in something like salad dressing or juice etc, it swells and takes on the taste of whatever it is mixed with cutting calories in half if it is used 50-50.
eliminate trans fats and reduce omega 6 fats and the foods containing it and saturated fats preferably by becoming a vegan.
In conjunction with medical drugs, perhaps eventually a wean down off drugs can be attempted at the family's discretion as reading Peter Breggin's books (highly recommended)makes one aware of the dangers of these potent anti-psychotic drugs. It is a difficult situation, one I feel first hand, having a brother with schizophrenia. I know how bad he can be without the drugs and I also know the danger of the drugs. It is difficult to know what to do or advise. But at least supplement with these things and gage things. Good luck!
