Re: gluten-free
How do you feel about diets that have You eating 6-7 times a day. If the food sits down there, eating 6-7 times would have a lot of food to sit down there. Does this mean You should take hcl 6-7 times a day? Take bitters that many times as well?
Smaller meals are going to be easier to digest to begin with in part because there will be less dilution of the stomach acid to begin with. And as you get your nutritional levels up your body should be able to generate its own stomach acid in sufficient levels. Betaine HCl or apple vinegar can be taken with some of the meals to help with digestion, but the long term goal should be to allow the body to produce all the stomach acid it requires. The bitters are something great for long term use as long as they are use in the small amounts because of the berberine or stimulant laxatives in most of them. Although due to their cleansing effect on the liver I would not recommend them more than the three times day. Otherwise you can detox the liver faster than the body can get rid of the toxins, which can make you feel sick. So I recommend sticking to the bitters for your largest or most difficult to digest meals.
Also I posted a question on my thread but its so far back now.
The bitters that I have are quite high on the alcohol-y side. Is this normal?
They are really no higher than the average tincture. And I only recommend a half a dropper full so you are really not going to get much alcohol from a dose. There is also alcohol free bitters such as Sweetish Bitters by Gaia Herbs, which is glycerin based.
I understand its use for herbal tinctures, but I feel like a few shots of that and I could be pulled over for drunk driving. (Sorry officer I was just uhhh....). Not that extreme but it did give me a slight head buzz and kinda burn on the way down. Never taken them before so just curious.
The alcohol does burn, but the glycerin does not. So I would look for an alcohol free bitter.
