Well spoken, olivia311. I do not mean to malign all doctors or all of western medicine. My wife is an RN and western medicine did an excellent job of helping our premature baby grow into a beautiful, healthy boy. Western medicine is very good at certain things. I am merely expressing my frustration at my doctor's approach--not just in this instance--of treating the symptoms of problems rather than thinking about the larger picture. And I have to say that the specific doctors I consulted about my gallstone issue were less than open-minded about alternative approaches, perhaps because of malpractice considerations. On the other hand, our pediatrician is wonderful and she is perfectly fine with my wife treating the kids homeopathically in addition to the western approach. As with almost any situation, it's not all black and white.
